May 3 – “The flower rule says to stop and smell the roses before you wind up pushing up the daisies.” – unknown

Muttart21 copyI recently read a bible study guide that listed five steps that would encourage me to stop and find something positive when I’m having a half empty glass kind of day.

Pay attention.

Be thankful.

Be positive.

Enjoy life.

Smell the roses.

You always have a choice. If you want to make the journey worth taking… stop to smell the roses!

“…to accept his lot and be happy in his work- this is a gift of God. he seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart.”                                                                                                                                                                     Ecc.5:19-20 (NIV)

Grace to you.

Apr.26: “We need others to need us; that doesn’t make us weak. It makes us human.” – writer Topher Kearby

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”                                                                                                                                                                                      – Hebrews 10:24-25

As a society we have many  resources at our finger tips. In a support group, members provide each other with various types of help, usually nonprofessional and nonmaterial, for a particular shared, usually burdensome, characteristic. Members with the same issues can come together for sharing coping strategies, to feel more empowered and for a sense of community. The help may take the form of providing and evaluating relevant information, relating personal experiences, listening to and accepting others’ experiences, providing sympathetic understanding and establishing social networks.

Apr.5: “The biggest communication problem is we do not listen to understand, we listen to reply.” via

MeAutoShow copyWhere is the Hope? Well the good news is we have two ears and only one mouth. However we need to use them in that ratio.

I grew up given the wisdom- “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” My kids will vouch for me passing that along to them as well.

If you think you have never hurt others with your tongue… you better check for a pulse.

The evil of our selfish hearts and tongue can be controlled by our own will power for only a short time. We just cannot be successful left to our own devices. Our words can make or break any situation. Only when the Spirit is in us and we are convicted can we begin to tame the tongue! For me it will be an ongoing battle.

“But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.” James 3:8 (NAS)

Grace to you.

Mar.29: “I do not understand the mystery of grace. Only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.” –  author Anne Lamott

MysteryofGraceWhere is the Hope? For starters we can make a conscious effort to show grace for each other and lift each other up.  Our world and most of the people in it are good at finding fault and tearing  each other down. As moms and parents we often are quick to judge. That is not our job!

I enjoy listening to pastor James Macdonald, I like the way he gives messages in a down to earth kind of way. I recently watched a short video of his on “Grace,” here is a portion: “…and I reiterate, do NOT make parenting a place of judgment! Give each other grace, tolerance and kindness when it comes to raising our babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers, school age, teenagers and adult children! There is nothing you can do to guarantee your kids will follow the Lord, but there are the some things you can do to guarantee that they won’t.”

Be quick to give Grace.

Mar.22- Just for today … look for the beauty around you

JustforTodayYou can find beauty everywhere, you just need to look. It can be an idea, thing, or person. Even amidst concrete and brick you can find nature,  can return a smile, can catch a glimpse of a kind gesture. You can if you look hard enough.

Grace be with you.

Mar. 16 – “The great thing about an attitude is that it’s yours and you can change it.” Joyce Meyer.

11950456_979075092156718_1511037832893472691_oWhere’s the Hope?  It’s always about choices. Should be simple right? We have the freedom to make the right choice. Trouble is always our selfish nature.

A good attitude produces good fruit. We cannot do this on our own, we have to rely on Him and His spirit for the promptings we need.

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22,23 (NAS)

Grace to you.
