My Hope in sharing this quotation is a reminder to make an effort to be kind to one another. A conscious effort.
When the kids were school age, a good morning meant I was up and enjoying a hot cup of coffee while reviewing everyone’s schedules for the day. Lunches were packed before I woke the kids. However on occasion, I unconsciously shut off my alarm, and when I did wake, my brain flipped to panic mode. Hollering to wake the kids, while running around back tracking all the time trying to un-fog. Two different shoes on, toothpaste on my blouse…where are my keys…..It was a recipe for bad humour for the whole day if I allowed it.
When I was working as a VON, (visiting nurse) I didn’t always wake up on the right side of the bed with a glass “half full” of OJ. But I tried to remember that I may be the first or only person a client may see that day. Who wants to see a sour puss grouchy nurse at the door and hear all her gripes, let alone have her change your precarious sensitive dressing? Some days I had to force a smile and it changed how I felt inside.
Try it. Put on a smile. I never regret it and neither will anyone else.
“Do not withhold good from those whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.” Proverbs 3:27 NAS
